Ge’itoq

Wabanaki Press has gone through a number of name changes since we first started covering news for the Wabanaki Tribes of Eastern United States and Canada. In 2010 we began our journalistic efforts as a weekly one-hour radio program at Fredericton’s University radio station, CHSR 97.9 FM. We were known as, All Things Wabanaki. In the fall of 2012 we revisited the program and renamed it, Wabanaki Confederacy Press. Soon after, following the approval of the Wabanaki Confederacy leadership conference held in Fredericton, the name changed again to, Wabanaki Press. We were pleased to have met with the interim-leaders of the Confederacy and to have their nod of support.

Our mission is to create an independent online information source that adheres to journalistic industry principles at the highest level. Our belief is that by keeping our focus Wabanaki related we may contribute to the ideals of truth, democracy, and overall awareness of their aboriginal news stories. We hope to grow and develop this project with your participation and support.
