Independent journalism providing news and information about the Wabanaki peoples and their territories.
We must be ever vigilant of companies wishing to exploit natural resources on our territories we never surrenderd. There is a case in Pabineau First Nation where an elected councillor is a full time employee of Trevali, a mining company about to extract resources in our traditional territory. Agreemenrts such as an IBA, etc. were signed without any community consultation. This is a blatant conflict of interest and TREVALI SHOULD BE TAKEN TO TASK ON THIS. It is against any good and ethical Governance policy that states real or perceived conflict of interest situations must be avoided. This is a real conflict of interest.
